In Austin, Texas, one company stands out as a reliable partner for filmmakers, providing top-notch grip, lighting, and production rentals. Meet Convoy, an Austin-based company that caters to the local Austin area and the wider state of Texas, offering a range of essential production vehicles and supplies. In this article, we'll delve into Convoy's impressive selection of film production vehicles and the unmatched quality they bring to the Texas film industry.

The Heart of Film Production: Convoy's Production Vehicles

3-Ton Grip Truck

Convoy's 3-Ton Grip Truck is a 2022 Ford F-600 designed with the crew's needs in mind. This film production truck comes equipped with a range of features to enhance efficiency and convenience on set:

Lighting Inside and Out

The 3-ton grip truck boasts its own power system, providing LED lighting both inside and outside the truck's box. This means you won't need additional working lights while wrapping up late at night or loading in for an early morning shoot. The truck is also wired for 30A shore power, ensuring power outlets throughout the vehicle.

Custom Lit Jockey Boxes

Underneath the truck, you'll find custom-made jockey boxes designed to securely hold sandbags, cables, grip gear, and more. Each jockey box is equipped with LED lights, making it easy to work in low-light conditions. All light switches are conveniently located in the truck's stairwell.

Oversized (7') Liftgate

Each 3 Ton grip truck is outfitted with a top-of-the-line Palfinger liftgate, measuring a generous 7 feet in length. These liftgates are equipped with a cart stop to ensure the safety of both cargo and passengers. With a lifting capacity of 3300 lbs, this liftgate can handle all your equipment in just a few trips.

Grip & Electric Sprinter Van

Another jewel in Convoy's fleet is the grip & electric sprinter van, a 2021 Ford F-350 Transit van customized to optimize your production workflow. This versatile van offers an array of features designed for efficiency and flexibility:

Plenty of A La Carte Space

The Sprinter package is built around three mobile carts, with ample space in the rear to accommodate lighting, a generator, a dolly, and more. Thanks to a full-size liftgate and enhanced suspension, even Fisher 10 dollies can be comfortably onboarded.

Custom Cart-Based Build

The grip & electric sprinter’s design prioritizes mobility. The base package includes a C-stand utility cart, a head cart, and a 4-crate expendables cart. The rear of the head cart is flexible space that can accommodate combo stands or 4x rags. Muscle trucks can also be added upon request.

Van Equipped with Liftgate

Each van in Convoy's grip & electric sprinter fleet features a top-of-the-line Palfinger liftgate, measuring approximately 5 feet in length. These liftgates include a cart stop for cargo and passenger safety and have a lifting capacity of 1300 lbs.

New Additions on the Horizon

Convoy is dedicated to staying at the forefront of the industry, and they have exciting plans for the future. In 2024, they will be introducing a new 5-ton truck to their fleet, releasing some off road vehicle solutions and expanding their already impressive lineup of production vehicles. Stay tuned for this exciting addition, and watch as Convoy continues to elevate the standards of film production in Texas.
